Release notes

Added

  • Forecaster Notes now brings NWS text products into the app, including Area Forecast Discussions, Hazardous Weather Outlooks, and Special Weather Statements for supported US locations.
  • HWO and SPS notifications can alert you when important NWS text products change, alongside the existing alert and discussion notifications.
  • Saved US locations now cache NWS zone metadata, and Edit Location shows the forecast zone and NWS office when available.
  • You can now copy the full alert details from the alert dialog in one click.
  • Alert details can be shown in a single combined view, with configurable date formats for alert timestamps.
  • Edit Location lets you toggle Marine Mode on an existing saved location without removing and re-adding it.
  • Marine Mode forecast presentation is expanded for coastal locations.
  • Precipitation notifications now use probability and short-range precipitation guidance, with adaptive polling that checks more often when rain looks likely.
  • View > Precipitation Timeline opens a Pirate Weather minute-by-minute precipitation timeline.
  • NOAA Weather Radio can show more nearby stations from inside the radio dialog, and station results are filtered by WeatherIndex availability.
  • You can choose whether Add/Edit/Remove location buttons appear near the location picker or below the forecast content.
  • Optional rule-based weather impact summaries add practical context to current conditions and forecast changes.

Improved

  • Main window layout, grouping, section sizing, window titles, status handling, and keyboard navigation were polished for screen reader workflows.
  • Event Center navigation and related UI behavior were cleaned up.
  • Settings dialog labels and accessibility behavior were improved.
  • Discussion AI summaries stay hidden until requested, reducing clutter.
  • The user manual and Help menu entry were updated to match the current app.
  • Automatic mode keeps fusion-first behavior while reducing unnecessary API calls.
  • Pirate Weather duplicate fetches were reduced.

Fixed

  • Windows Action Center and toast activation are more reliable, including cold-start activation and alert activation payload handling.
  • Alert notifications no longer repeat every few minutes in automatic mode.
  • Alert notifications are processed on the initial weather fetch.
  • Auto-update checks now recover from sleep and hibernation instead of silently missing the 24-hour check.
  • Windows startup detection is target-aware, reducing false startup setting states.
  • Forecast timezone labels and forecast wind units now honor the selected location and unit preferences.
  • AVWX API keys persist through secure keyring storage.
  • Toast text escaping, app identity repair, notifier shutdown, and notification task cleanup were hardened.
  • Test-only keyring and clipboard interactions were made hermetic so CI does not touch developer machine state.
